I found this poem in an old newspaper. Today is Martyrs' Day so I thought I'd share it:
'Hitler and his Black Shirts
riding for a fall,
Musso with his Brown Shirts
Back against the wall,
De Valera with his Green Shirts
caring not at all,
Three cheers to Gandhi
with no shirt at all!'

Glorifying a single person never worked anywhere. Gandhi was ONE of the instrumental figures of our independence struggle. Each and every single person who gave up her/his life for the cause of our country deserves to be put on our currency notes.
But ya, Satyameva Jayate! :)
*waves a flag patriotically*

Whether it works or not Gji is glorified- and not just in India.
MDay is observed on the date of G's death perhaps bcos he is a symbol.
No doubt all who died for a noble cause deserve to be remembered.

Jai Hind!
Hey Red book quote!! :D
Coincidentally, we were just discussing the effectiveness of G this evening. Gji was a great guy- sure he was completely crack in some/many ways, but you have to hand it to him for coming up with some of the most novel ways to tackle an age old problem.
Yes, the red book it is.
'Gji was crazy'arent we (great people) all?
